Michael Bodkins - Oblige

First off, I’d like to say congratulations in landing a spot in Oblige. How did this come about?

Michael Bodkins:

I have been friends with the dude’s in Suicide Silence and Oblige. Both started around the same time in Riverside, CA. Greg, vocalist of the band, was talking with me when he told me they were lookin’ for a bassist so I offered my assistance.

Are there any plans to tour with Oblige, or are you looking to release an album first and push it through touring?

Michael Bodkins:

We’re planning on releasing a new album and then touring on it and seeing what we can make of it.

Under the right circumstances, would you ever consider playing for Suicide Silence again?

Michael Bodkins:

Yes I would, but they would have to get rid of a member before I ever even considered it.

Everyone has one band that they are embarrassed to admit they listen to… what is yours? To make it fair, I jam some Underoath on the occasion. (Don’t judge me!)

Michael Bodkins:

I really like Lil’ Wayne.

I’m not sure if you were made aware, but Salt the Wound has announced they are breaking up. How do you feel about this?

Michael Bodkins:

It happens to the best of them. Another band bites the dust.

Ok, I’m sure you’re getting tired of answering those questions by now, as they seem pretty common things to ask. Back on subject. Coming from such a successful band, are higher expectations placed on you? Granted, Oblige is by no means new to the scene.

Michael Bodkins:

I think so, yes, because people know what I’m capable of doing now, and it’s not someone new off the streets.

Of all the extensive touring you have done, what are your favorite and least favorite places you have visited and why?

Michael Bodkins:

Favorite: Amsterdam. Was fuckin’ amazing. We were there last 4/20. Let’s just say I used it to my advantage that they love that green stuff. Worst: France. I was robbed at gun point trying to call Britany.

Is there anything you’d like to accomplish before you call it quits?

Michael Bodkins:

I think I’ve accomplished everything I ever wanted to in music and more. At this point I just play for the love of it.

I appreciate you taking the time to do this interview with me, showing me around California, and kicking my ass in UFC Undisputed on PS3. I’m sure I speak for everyone when I say we can’t wait to hear the new material.

Michael Bodkins:

P.S. I’m God of UFC Undisputed .
