UFC 105 – Randy Couture vs Brandon Vera

On November 14, 2009, Randy Couture will make his return to the light heavyweight division where he will face Brandon Vera.  “I would love to be a six-time UFC champion, to set the bar very high in that regard, and that’s what I want to accomplish at 205lbs,” said Couture. “That is my immediate goal. I am very intrigued by the current light heavyweight division, there are some great matchups for me here, and I believe I have to tools to win back the 205lbs title.”

Brandon Vera is 11-3 in his mixed martial arts career, and is coming off a recent win over Krzysztof Soszynski. “It will be an honour and a privilege to fight a living legend like Randy Couture. He has been someone that I have looked up to and I can’t wait to get in there in November.”

This event will be aired on Spike, free of charge.

Dong Hyun Kim was originally suppose to face Dan Hardy, but was forced to pull out of his bout due to an injury. He will be replaced by Mike Swick. This will be a true test for both fighters, as it has been said that the winner will get a title shot against Georges St. Pierre in early 2010.

Michael Bisping will be returning to the ring, in which will be his first fight since being defeated by Dan Henderson, and will be fighting Denis Kang.
